Lost Foam Coatings

Lost Foam Coatings are specialized refractory coatings designed for application on expandable polystyrene (EPS) patterns in the lost foam casting process. They perform a critical function in governing metal flow behavior, controlling gas permeability, and protecting the mould interface during the thermal degradation of the foam pattern.

These coatings are engineered with optimized particle size distribution and controlled permeability, allowing efficient evacuation of decomposition gases while maintaining sufficient resistance to metal penetration. This balance ensures smooth, turbulence-free metal flow, minimizing casting defects such as misruns, porosity, carbon defects, and sand inclusions.

Our range of coatings is available in various grades and formulations (water-based and alcohol-based), tailored for different alloys such as Cast iron, SG iron, and Non-ferrous metals. Coatings can also be customized based on viscosity, permeability, coating thickness, and drying characteristics to suit specific foundry process conditions and application methods (dip, flow, or spray).
